Christs Sufficiency
Many heretical teachings in the church deny the sufficiency of Christ Jesus. These folk teach that Jesus life and sacrificial death are not sufficient for the complete payment of your sin and mine. If Christ is not sufficient as the Lamb of God, we are truly without hope.
To answer these heresies and
retain the hope He gives, we must look to Gods Word. Here, then, is an incomplete list of New
Testament scripture (KJV) that testify, declare, and define Christ as the one
and only sufficient sacrifice to take away our sins. Behold He is the Lamb of God, who takes
away our sin. Search His Word, asking
for His wisdom, for no man can give that.

Matthew 28:16 18: Then the eleven disciples went away into
Luke 18:31 33: Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto
them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the
prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles,
and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to
death: and the third day he shall rise again.
Luke 23:44 47: And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a
darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the
temple was rent in the midst. And when
Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my
spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he
glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
Luke 24:3 7: And they entered in, and found not the body of
the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as
they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining
garments: And as they were afraid, and
bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the
living among the dead? He is not here,
but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into
the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
John 1:1 4: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. The same
was in the beginning with God. All
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was
made. In him was life; and the life was
the light of men.
John 1:29: The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him,
and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
John 3:35 36: The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all
things into his hand. He that believeth
on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not
see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 5:39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye
have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
John 6:40: And this is the will of him that sent me, that
every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 8:23 24: And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am
from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in
your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 10:17 18: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay
down my life, that I might take it again.
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to
lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I
received of my Father.
John 10:27 30: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me: And I give unto them eternal
life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my
hand. My Father, which gave them me, is
greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's
hand. I and my Father are one.
John 11:25 26: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and
the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me
shall never die. Believest thou this?
John 14:7: If ye had known me, ye should have known my
Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
John 17:1 4: These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes
to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son
also may glorify thee: As thou hast
given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as
thou hast given him. And this is life
eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom
thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on
the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Acts 9:17 18: And Ananias went his way, and entered into the
house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus,
that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou
mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as
it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was
baptized.
Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for
it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 5:6 11: For when we were yet without strength, in due
time Christ died for the ungodly. For
scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some
would even dare to die. But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us. Much more then, being now
justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we
shall be saved by his life. And not only
so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now
received the atonement.
Romans 6:6 9: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with
him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not
serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe
that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the
dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Romans 8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:10 11: And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because
of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus
from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:31 39: What shall we then say to these things? If God be
for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered
him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all
things? Who shall lay any thing to the
charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that
died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also maketh intercession for us. Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or
persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed
all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other
creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:4: For Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness to every one that believeth.
Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
1 Corinthians 15:20 22: But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become
the firstfruits of them that slept. For
since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall
all be made alive.
2 Corinthians 5:17 19: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath
reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation; To wit, that God was in
Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto
them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew
no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Galatians 2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works
of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus
Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works
of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:20 21: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for
me. I do not frustrate the grace of God:
for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians 3:11 13: But that no man is justified by the law in the
sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man
that doeth them shall live in them.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse
for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree
Galatians 3:22: But the scripture hath concluded all under sin,
that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Galatians 4:4 7: But when the fulness of the time was come, God
sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that
were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye
are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying,
Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more
a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Galatians 5:1: Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith
Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Ephesians 1:19 23: And what is the exceeding greatness of his power
to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised
him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly
places, Far above all principality, and
power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this
world, but also in that which is to come:
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over
all things to the church, Which is his
body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Ephesians 2:4 10: But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love
wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might
show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ
Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in
them.
Ephesians 2:13
16: But now in Christ Jesus
ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one,
and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity,
even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of
twain one new man, so making peace; And
that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain
the enmity thereby.
Ephesians 3:20
21: Now unto him that is
able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to
the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he
which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ
Philippians 2:6
11: Who, being in the form
of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took
upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the
cross. Wherefore God also hath highly
exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should
bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 4:15
20: Now ye Philippians
know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia,
no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye
only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent
once and again unto my necessity. Not
because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your
account. But I have all, and abound: I
am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,
an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever
and ever. Amen.
Colossians 1:16
22: For by him were all
things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:
all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might
have the preeminence. For it pleased the
Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in
earth, or things in heaven. And you,
that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now
hath he reconciled In the body of his
flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in
his sight
Colossians 2:8
10: Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after
the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all
the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and
power
Colossians 2:13
15: And you, being dead in
your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with
him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which
was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers,
he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Colossians 3:1
4: If ye then be risen with
Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right
hand of God. Set your affection on
things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,
then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
1 Thessalonians
1:8 10: For from you
sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in
every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to
speak any thing. For they themselves
show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God
from idols to serve the living and true God;
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even
Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
1 Timothy 2:5
6: For there is one God, and
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a
ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Hebrews 1:1 4: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his
Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the
worlds; Who being the brightness of his
glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the
word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels,
as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Hebrews 2:9 10: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower
than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that
he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things,
and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the
captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Hebrews 5:8 9: Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by
the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of
eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Hebrews 7:24 27: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an
unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is
able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he
ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us,
who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than
the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as
those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for
the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
Hebrews 9:11 14: But Christ being come an high priest of good
things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands,
that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he
entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and
the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of
the flesh: How much more shall the blood
of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 9:28: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of
many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without
sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 10:11 14: And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering
oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one
sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be
made his footstool. For by one offering
he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Hebrews 12:2 3: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our
faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such
contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your
minds.
1 Peter 1:18 21: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and
without spot: Who verily was foreordained
before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for
you,
Who by him do believe in
God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and
hope might be in God.
1 Peter 3:18: For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the
just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the
flesh, but quickened by the Spirit
1 John 4:9 10: In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live
through him. Herein is love, not that we
loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for
our sins.
1 John 5:11 12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath
not life.
Revelation 11:15: And the seventh angel sounded; and there were
great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the
kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever
Revelation 12:10 11: And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is
come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his
Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before
our God day and night. And they overcame
him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they
loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation 17:14: These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb
shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that
are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 19:1 10: And after these things I heard a great voice of
much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power,
unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath
judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and
hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke
rose up for ever and ever. And the four
and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on
the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And
a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants,
and ye that fear him, both small and great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice
of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for
the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us
be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is
come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean
and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they
which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me,
These are the true sayings of God. And I
fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am
thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:
worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
